About
Hey I’m Courtney, and it’s so nice to meet you!
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology. I work with clients ages 9+ focusing on problems including but not limited to shame, emotional regulation, grief, traumatic experiences, depression & anxiety, relationship conflict, and attachment wounds.
As a therapist, you can expect to be met with genuine care and compassion through curiosity, with an emphasis on creating a safe place. I believe that through our relationship we have unique opportunities to bring perspective and understanding to the experiences you encounter. My clients often hear me say that I come from an approach that doesn’t push you, but pokes the beliefs and underlying emotions you may be experiencing to gain a better understanding of your inner world.
What makes me unique as a therapist is that my approach is impacted by my personality. I can hold space for the uncomfortable emotions and thoughts that are impacting daily living, while leaving room to laugh and be silly. I draw from my experience as being a client in my own therapy and what I learn from my work with clients, while integrating evidence-based research to provide resources including books, podcasts, worksheets, or other professional referrals. Lastly, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is one that has opportunities to practice and learn relational skills. This includes understanding boundaries, repairing when I make a mistake, or creating safety.
I have been professionally trained in Observed & Experiential Integration (OEI Level 1). I draw from an integrative approach that incorporates Emotionally Focused therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy, Dialectical Behavioural therapy, the Satir Model, and Expressive Arts modalities
