Systemic Therapy

Systemic Therapies (ST) place great importance on how people function in relationships, whether it is with their partner, family members, classmates or co-workers. ST assess how clients relate to each other in healthy or unhealthy ways. Clients are encouraged to explore and understand the relationship dynamics of their past in order to determine and process their current difficulties and struggles.

Through the use of ST, the counselor helps you build your skills and coping responses so that you can more effectively navigate difficult relationships. The counsellor is there to walk you through painful issues of both the past and present so that you will be free to make healthy choices.

Because ST is focused on relationships, the counsellor may ask you to bring your partner and/or children in order to develop more positive and healthy ways of interacting.
